Helen Keen, Flute

Flautist Helen Keen studied languages at Cambridge University before deciding to make music her career after being awarded a scholarship to Guildhall School of Music and Drama. As well as being a founder-member of the Endymion Ensemble, she was Principal Piccolo with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for fifteen years. She has played guest principal flute with the RPO as well as with the London Mozart Players, Orchestra of St. John’s and New London Orchestra. Helen also appears regularly with London Sinfonietta, London Winds and the Nash Ensemble.

In addition to her symphony and chamber appearances, Helen can be heard playing flute, piccolo, alto and bass flute and a range of ethnic instruments on many film scores, including Over the Hedge, The Wind That Shakes the Barley, Volver and the James Bond film Casino Royale.
