As cellist in the Lawson Trio since 2007, Rebecca Knight has performed at London’s Wigmore Hall, South Bank and King’s Place, and given live concert broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and Australian Classic FM. The ensemble’s debut CD of newly commissioned British music met with critical acclaim, receiving a 5-star review in BBC Music Magazine. Rebecca has also recorded cello sonatas of Louise Farrenc and Dame Ethyl Smith on Ambache Records, and contemporary chamber works for Champs Hill, Chandos and Oboe Classics. Rebecca works with orchestras and ensembles including Academy St Martin in the Fields, London Mozart Players, London Chamber Orchestra and City of London Sinfonia, and has appeared as guest principal with Wexford Festival Opera Orchestra and Ulster Orchestra.
Rebecca enjoys improvisation and experimental projects and spent her second lockdown of 2020 learning how to create her own ‘cello-electronica’ for a new solo project under the name BAKSTian. She also features as solo cellist on Hidden Orchestra’s ‘Creaks’ soundtrack album, released in 2020.
