Programme now on our updated website
Mike Jackson, our volunteer webmaster, has been hard at work giving the website a new look. You’ll notice that we have a new logo and that the home page looks very different.
And if you look further, you’ll find details of all the artists who will be performing in May 2022, as well as the full programme.
In 2022, all seats will be numbered and bookable in advance. To maximise your comfort (!) there will be at most three people per pew, with a few pews being reserved for families.
There are some familiar faces in the line-up; Sophia Rahman, our artistic director, will be joined by violist Andres Kaluste and cellist Joely Koos who played this May, and violinist Maria Włoszczowska who performed in 2018.
The celebrated tenor Mark Padmore is singing on Thursday in the early evening concert, on Friday in the main concert and on Sunday afternoon.
Jazz, Family Concert and Masterclass
The 2022 festival will be something of a family affair in more ways than one. Not only is our new family concert on Saturday aimed at young people, but we also have two sets of siblings at the Festival.
Sophia Rahman’s brother Idris and sister Zoe will be playing jazz on Thursday evening. This is the first time we have incorporated jazz into the Festival. Check out their music on Youtube.
A big thanks to all of you who have become Friends or Patrons for the first time, or have renewed your support. Supporting the festival will give you the chance to book tickets as soon as they become available as well as other benefits outlined on the Support Us page of the website, but more importantly, the satisfaction of helping to secure the future of Whittington Music Festival.
We are currently negotiating with the Kitchen@theCastle and local pubs to provide food during the break between concerts. More information on these arrangements will follow in our next newsletter.
