Ukrainian British cellist Nina Kiva has performed extensively at many venues across the UK and internationally. She is a passionate chamber musician, and has performed alongside renowned artists such as Steven Isserlis, Maxim Vengerov and Rebecca Gilliver. Nina has been invited to festivals such as IMS Prussia Cove, Whittington, Mendelssohn on Mull and Yellow Barn.
Based in London, Nina enjoys a varied career of freelancing with orchestras and other ensembles. Regularly performing with the Philharmonia and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, she has also enjoyed working with the Sinfonia of London, English National Opera and London Philharmonic Orchestra. She has performed as Guest principal with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. She was also
principal cellist of the European Union Youth Orchestra during her studies. The orchestra performed extensively all over Europe, including concert halls such as ElbPhilharmonie Hamburg, Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Wolkenturm in Grafenegg, Austria. In 2021-2022, she was an academist with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, selected by Ivan Fischer, and sat as Co-Principal cellist during a tour of Europe in the summer. Nina regularly works with HerEnsemble, a London based group which seeks to address the gender gap and gender stereotypes in the music industry.
Nina graduated from the Royal College of Music with an Artist Diploma Degree in 2022, where she was studying with Melissa Phelps. During her undergraduate studies at the institution, she also studied with Alexander Boyarsky and Thomas Carroll. She has also participated in masterclasses with Stephen Doane, Pinchas Zukerman, Torleiff Thedeen, Guy Johnston, Johannes Goritzki and Bruno Delepelaire.
