Daisy Vatalaro, Cello

Daisy read Music and History of Art at Clare College, Cambridge, before studying with Steven Doane at the Eastman School of Music. She was a founder member of the Bronte String Quartet, has been cellist of the Musicke Companye since 2012 and is an Associate member of the London Mozart Players. She has freelanced with many chamber orchestras, including the London Contemporary Orchestra, Aurora and the London, Scottish and Irish Chamber Orchestras, and plays with period groups including ORR, OAE and the Hanover Band. She has also toured and recorded with non-classical artists including Jon Hopkins and Imogen Heap.

Alongside her playing career, Daisy is very interested in music education and how music can help. She is Professor of Cello at Junior Guildhall; she has directed and/or coached on various music courses including Pro Corda, the National Youth String Orchestra and the National Chamber Music Course; she has run education projects for the LMP and Pro Corda and is a mentor for Music Masters. Daisy is also a qualified Dalcroze teacher and music therapist. She is currently working as a music therapist at a refuge for trafficked women.
