Nicki Pearce studied the cello at the Royal Academy of Music and Trinity College of Music and then went on to teach at Westminster School, London and work as a freelance performer.
Based in North Wales since 2003 Nicki has a varied career. As a performer she is principal cellist of Ensemble Cymru, plays principal with the Welsh Chamber Orchestra, Mid Wales Opera and Opra Cymru and plays with the Northern Chamber orchestra. Nicki regularly performs in other local orchestras, chamber music and solo recitals. As a teacher, Nicki is passionate about teaching all levels and ages and teaches privately, at Bangor University and at the Canolfan Gerdd William Mathias, where she also conducts a community orchestra and runs the chamber music coaching and projects. Nicki is also lead musician for Ensemble Cymru’s education projects in schools.
Nicki lives with her husband, two sons and two dogs and enjoys mountain walking, visiting castles and gardening.
