Oliver Pierce, Cello

Oliver Pearce is 12 years old and plays the cello and jazz piano. He has just started the JRNCM and studies with Jen Langridge for cello and Les Chisnall for jazz piano. To date, he has had a varied ‘career’ in the arts as Oliver is also a keen actor. Oliver was Benji in the UK tour of ‘Priscilla, Queen of the Desert’ in 2019. With Andrew Lloyd Webber’s West End musical ‘School of Rock’, Oliver has starred as Lawrence the keyboard player for the complete 2021-2022 UK Tour. He has enjoyed visiting all four corners of the UK! Oliver also does work for BBC Radio Wales for radio plays.

Oliver absolutely loves playing his cello and is a member of the National School Symphony Orchestra. He attends and loves the Cello Dynamo masterclass courses in the summer, where he is fortunate enough to work with the cellists Sandy Baillie, Michal Kaznowski and Joely Koos as well as with pianists Sophia Rahman and Emily Hooker. Oliver plays regularly in a cello ensemble, string quartet and local string orchestra. Oliver is looking forward to developing his jazz piano skills and improvising at the JRNCM this year.

Oliver is very active and enjoys mountain walking, paddle boarding, climbing, rugby and walking the two dogs.
