The 2024 festival is less than two weeks away and we are looking forward to seeing many of you at this year’s concerts.
Our trademark mix of eclectic programming and outstanding musicianship is unique in Shropshire, and definitely not to be missed!
Full House!
The Four Seasons Plus concert on Thursday May 16th has proved to be extremely popular and is sold out. It’s unlikely that many tickets will be returned, so please don’t come on the off chance. If you do decide to come without a ticket your name will be added to a waiting list and any spare tickets will be distributed shortly before the concert begins.
The good news is that tickets are available for all other concerts, and admission is free for anyone under the age of 26 thanks to the generosity of the Cavatina Trust.
Fine Art
Five local artists are exhibiting paintings, drawings and sculpture in Oswestry library inspired by music played at a previous Whittington Festival. The exhibition is free and will continue until May 30th, and all the work is for sale.
Volunteer Drivers
Some of the people who were willing to drive musicians between Bronygarth and Whittington, and back, are now unable to help. Lifts are needed from Wednesday May 15th to Sunday 19th and even if you could do a single journey your help will be invaluable. The journeys will be covered by your usual insurance and you will have the chance to get to know the friendly festival musicians.
To volunteer and for further information, or if you have already offered to help but have not received a link to the signing up form please email judygreaves@icloud.com.
For your comfort
The pews in St John the Baptist Church were not designed to be comfortable, so to maximise your enjoyment of the music we suggest you bring a cushion!
Please note
- The £2 parking fee helps to pay for the upkeep of Whittington castle, and is non-negotiable.
- A single large-print copy of the programme notes will be available at each concert. Or obtain one by emailing info@whittingtonmusicfestival.org.uk
- All the concerts are at Whittington Church. The evening concerts all start at 7:30pm, the Saturday Family and Jazz concert starts at 3:00pm and the final Sunday afternoon concerts at 3:30pm.
Next Year
The Whittington Festival 2025 begins on Thursday May 15th and runs until Sunday May 18th.
